INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The National Weather Service has preliminary confirmed 15 tornadoes tore through Indiana.
An update Monday evening shows the strongest so far is a low-end EF3 on the Fujita scale that was southeast of Lafayette.
The weather service says at least six EF2 tornadoes packing wind speeds of 111 to 135 mph struck Indiana. They included two that hit Kokomo, including one on the ground for 10 miles; a 12-mile tornado in nearby Grant County, and one in southwestern Indiana's Knox County that traveled 19 miles.
The other EF2s struck Lebanon and Washington.
Weaker tornadoes struck near Rensselaer and Bedford, the town of Atlanta, west of Kokomo, central Grant County and northeast of Lebanon.
Two tornadoes of undetermined intensity struck near Covington and near the Montgomery-Tippecanoe county line.
